PFP VARSITY SCHOOL INFORMATION
The Varsity School was created by Denise Davis in 2005 and has been the backbone of training and culture at PFP for 18 years. Directed by Denise Davis and Kerri Jacklets, the Varsity School delivers energy in a robust manner to a select group of pitchers, hitters and catchers who want to train at the highest level. We seek out players who have similar work ethic, curiosity, engagement and athletic goals. Athletes who apply will be hand selected by Denise Davis.
During Varsity School, we will tackle player development from every angle. Data, video analysis and classroom sessions will fully support the total development of each player who is accepted. We will dive into physical, mental and sport performance curriculum and push towards a deeper understanding of how all three areas impact game day. Specific areas of development will include mechanics enhancement, timing work, speed measurements, plate strategy, routine and reset design, video analysis, alternate pitch development and sequencing. Students will learn high-level concepts in an intense academic setting with expectations that match that of a college softball program. We will ramp up from technical to tactical as we navigate through the Varsity School, finishing with Live Hitting and Pitching scenarios.

This is a full-service program that leaves no stone unturned.

To train consistently with Denise Davis, you must be a Varsity School Player. This program is on the cutting edge of training and development. The students will be constantly monitored and well-cared for. Pitchers train for 2 hours and catchers for 2.5 hours each week. This is the ideal combination of group and private training. It will cater to individual issues as well as competitive needs. There are also private training choices which include several options of lesson packages. There are also special sister rates.

In summary, VARSITY = more hours at PFP, more individualized attention, more structured assignments, more seminars, great speakers.

Moving forward within our Varsity program we will always be ready and prepared to deliver our academy virtually in a combination of presentation, collaboration, group work, skill analysis, connections to the best players in the game and recruiting education. We will be adaptable in unforeseen circumstances/natural disasters/pandemics similar to our experience with Covid 19.

PFP will be testing metrics that are applicable to pitchers, catchers and hitters twice during the academic year. The tests will be done in small groups in a variety of available time slots. We will measure our athletes pre and post the training season. These tests will raise the bar! Let's assess, set goals, work hard, then reassess! This data is vetted and will also be useful for your personal recruiting profile.

In the event of short-term, acute injury, players are requested to attend classes to learn by observation. In the unfortunate event of long-term injury, with a valid medical documentation, a medical leave of absence from the program will take place. Pitchers will pay for a pro-rated month and then take the leave. If there are pitchers on the waitlist, they will be invited to fill the open slot. Fees for the waitlisted individual will also be pro-rated as will the balance of private lessons for the remainder of the academic year, basing the remainder of a 2 per month scale. If a VIP participant is pulled from the wait list, she will immediately join the program and will incur a charge for the remainder of the month, a deposit and then begin a monthly installment. She will be a matriculated student in the program from the time that she is pulled from the wait list. The injured pitcher may re-enter the program when healed and when there is an opening in the program.
-
After 2 warnings and a player/parent/coach conference, any student who does not cooperate with the philosophies, goals, assignments, training regimes, academic eligibility and/or misconduct policy (including drug and alcohol policy) will be dismissed from program and the balance of the yearly tuition is required to be paid in full.
-
In the event of extremely inclement weather, classes will be cancelled. There is ONE weather-related make-up in April TBD. There will be no other make-up opportunities. Private lessons will not be exchanged for missed groups. Make-ups are not available for schedule conflicts, sickness or vacations.
-
Planet Fastpitch will provide a Varsity Network list of all students in this elite program (with permission of the student). The list will include name, phone and email. If you have conflict with your assigned time, it is your responsibility to contact a student in another class to make a possible switch. PFP assumes no responsibility for a student’s personal scheduling adjustments. These classes are similar to college classes and must be treated with the same respect. Professors would not be called upon to make up a missed class privately with a student. It is the student’s responsibility to attend the pre-paid sessions regularly.
