ELAINE SORTINO SOFTBALL SCHOOL

Join us as we celebrate our 29th year of excellence with the 2024 Elaine Sortino Softball Schools.  Together, Coach and Denise built something powerful and inspiring. Denise is committed to continuing to provide this experience and to keeping Coach present on the field by sharing stories of her essence and greatness to the next generation of players. This School will be instructed by coaches who have been directly influenced by Coach.  It is the best and most anticipated week of our year!  The Softball Schools are a well-oiled machine that utilizes each moment to become what was most important to Coach…Be 1% Better Every Day!

Elaine Sortino made winning a habit at UMASS.  In her 34 years at the helm of the Minutewoman Softball Team, Sortino established herself as one of the nation’s most successful collegiate softball coaches and helped to put UMASS softball on the map.  In the 2013 season, her 1,185 wins ranked seventh all-time among active Division I coaches. She won 23 conference titles and led UMass to three trips to the Women’s College World Series.  In 2004, Sortino was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  The NFCA also names UMASS Softball the 34th best softball program all-time.

FAQ's

Where is the camp held and is it indoors?

  • Elaine Sortino Softball School is held at Planet Fastpitch, the premier indoor softball facility.

Can I register my daughter for multiple weeks?

  • Yes, each week of camp has different content, and many players mix and match.

Is this an overnight camp?

  • Currently, due to the climate of the pandemic, our typical dorms are not available, so we have moved to day camps only.

Is there an age limit?

  • Campers must be at least 10 years old, be ready to work and have a solid base of softball experience.

Is this camp for beginners?

  • No, this is not a camp for beginners.  If you are getting started, look for PFP Summer Series and Youth Camps or enroll in our Rookie School.

What equipment does my daughter need?

  • You will be emailed a full list of items to bring for each camp you are registered.

What kind of footwear does my daughter need?

  • Sneakers and Cleats!  We switch from the dirt to the cages and training room often.  Cleats are only worn in the dome with no exceptions.

Is hitting covered in the Pitcher/Catcher School?

  • No, lunch is not provided for campers.  Campers are required to pack lunch and enough snacks and water for the full-day sessions in their own personal cooler that is clearly labeled.   We dine under our outdoor pavilions.

Who do I contact with questions?

Is there a group discount offered for multiple players from one team or organization?
